Janani Suraksha Yojana

The Central Government of India has implemented a scheme to provide financial assistance to pregnant women during their crucial time. There are many women who need to work even during the third trimester of their pregnancy due to below income of the family. They have been worried about the expenditures for the child post their delivery. This has been causing mental pressure on them, which will be effective for the babies.

To support such females, the Janani Suraksha Yojana has been implemented. This provides the financial support from the trimester to the post-delivery period. There are two components provided in the scheme, and the amount of the deposit will depend on the category of the families belonging to the two components.

The scheme is to have the safe motherhood period initiated under the National Health commission. The scheme was launched in 2005 by the prime minister. The Janani Suraksha Yojana ties the cash flow from the pre-delivery to the post-delivery care. This has been identified as an Accredited Social Health Activist to have communication between the Government and pregnant women.

The scheme focuses on poor pregnant women with special dispensation for the states with low institutional delivery rates, such as Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, and Jharkhand. These states have been named as the Low Performing States, while the remaining are considered to be the High Performing States. The cash inflows mostly make the benefit deposit and cover the expenditure of the delivery.

If a pregnant woman follows up on all the eligibility requirements of Janani Suraksha Yojana from the rural area, delivering the baby in public health care or the Accredited Private Hospital will get a cash flow of Rs 1400. If the woman gets the baby delivered at home and is under the category of the below poverty line will be relieved in the amount of Rs 500. It does not consider the woman’s age or the number of children she has conceived.

During the delivery period, the cash inflow will be deposited into the hospital’s finances under the name of the patient in charge. The cash will be deposited in a single flow. If a pregnant woman follows up on all the eligibility requirements from the urban area, delivering the baby in public health care or the Accredited Private Hospital will get a cash flow of Rs 1000. The state has implemented the direct deposit method for easy deposit of the amount.

The list of the eligible beneficiaries will be released after the successful registration process. The candidates wanting to apply for the Yojana will have the link available on the leading portal of the Janani Suraksha Yojana. The verification process will be carried out to check the account and the background details.

The women entering into the trimester in the next month can apply for the Yojana. The details about the months and the due date should be provided. The documents that are required for the registration process are an Aadhar card, address proof, JSY card, delivery certificate, BPL Ration Card, Bank Details, mobile number and passport-size photo.

Janani Suraksha Yojana Registration Eligibility

There are certain eligibility criteria that females should be aware of before applying for the Janani Suraksha Yojana. The basic requirements to receive the deposit are shared in this section.

  • The female should be in a household that is considered to be Below the Poverty Line.
  • The women who are above the age limit of 19 years will only receive the benefit amount.
  • The females with only two live births are only eligible for the benefit.

The ones who have registered themselves with the JSY scheme and have delivered public health care will be eligible to apply for the amount.

About 56000 women in India die due to pregnancy-related complications, and every year, 13 lakh infants die due to these complications. The major reason is the medical assistance provided to them during their delivery. In order to reduce maternal and infant mortality, the Janani Suraksha Yojana has been providing cash inflows to females.
